Professor of the University of Delhi, Hany Babu house was raided without prior notice on Tuesday.
The reason for the search of his house was because of his connection, though uncertain, in the case of Elgaar Parishad 2017. He claimed that the police broke into his house without any search warrant furthermore, they grasped the mobile phones of his daughter as well as his wife.
They were not even permitted to communicate with peers. The most incessant activity of the police was that they snatched the laptop of Mr Babu which contained his crucial research work.
Mr Babu has been teaching at the University of Delhi at the Department of English for more than 10 years.
According to Mr Babu:
At around 6.30 am, to Mr Babu’s shock 20 people were standing at his door claiming to be the Crime Branch officer of Pune. He said, 5 of them were in uniform, the others were in civil clothes.
He further added that the officers were directed to conduct a search warrant when asked the officers said his case didn’t need a warrant. Mr Babu found it difficult to recognize if they were real or fake officers thus he demanded the ID as well.
Amidst all this chaos the officials barged into his room and detected his entire apartment. The period of the search was around 6 hours. After the hunt ended the officials declared that they would be seizing his laptop, his hard disks, and books.
The officials compelled him to alter his password of Email as well as social media accounts. Now, he cannot even login to his account.
The profession of a teacher is a novel task and attempt to sabotage his image was shameful.
Being a teacher his entire research work was accompanied in his laptop and hard disk, now his laptop snatched his entire years of persistent hard work perished.
