The Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had recently announced the change of names of three of the renowned tourist attractions in Andaman in Tribute to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.
The renaming took place as Ross Island was renamed to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Dwee, the Neil Island was named as Shaheed Dweep and the Havelock Island was named as Swaraj Dweep.
Modi received a very warming gesture from the audience during the addressal of this announcement.
“When it comes to the heroes of freedom struggle, we take the name Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose with pride. The first prime minister of the Azad Hind government Subhash Babu had made India’s Independence resolution on the soil of Andaman.”
He further added,
“The country draws inspiration from Andaman.That is why the government has issued a notification and I am proudly announcing that henceforth Ross Island will be known as Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Dweep.The Neil Island will be know as Shaheed Dweep and Havelock as Swaraj Dweep.”
Andaman and Nicobar Islands are not just a symbol of India’s natural beauty but also stand as an important pilgrimage for the Indians.
