What went wrong?
In 2001, the Ministry of Defence provided three acres of land for the fabrication of Delhi University Metro station. But later merely 1 acre of land was used for the construction rest two acres were leased by the Delhi Metro to a non-official builder to setup a 39 storey building.
The DU official wrote an official letter to the secretary of the Ministry of housing and Urban Affairs, Durga Shankar Mishra, Central Government on December 7, 2018. The main grievance in the letter was refraining North DMC from providing any sanction to the group housing projects of Young Builder Private Limited near Vishwavidalaya Metro Station. According to University of Delhi OSD Vipin Tiwari some setup works are inside the circumference of Large Boundary line on the backside of the Metro. He further Elucidated how the construction of 39 storey private building is violating the privacy as many of the girls hostel are located near the area moreover DRDO and lieutenant governor office is also nearby. Most importantly this construction is flouting the clause 11 of Delhi Master plan 2021.
