The University of Delhi SOL students called off their indefinite hunger strike against the bulldozing of Choice based semester system.
The reason behind the termination of the strike was the meeting with the members of the University. The Implementation of the Choice-based semester system in the current academic calendar of SOL (School of Open Learning) proved to be “an apple of discord” between the students and the Varsity, this decision was taken up recently at the meeting of DU’s Executive Council.
The effects of the implementation were the indefinite hunger strike on Tuesday by the students of SOL and activists of Students’ group Krantikari Yuva Sangathan (KYS).
During their protest students attempted to send back their past study material to the SOL but the authorities denied to accept it. Upon seeing their protest being futile like this the agonized students threw away their books outside the building of SOL in dissent.
These activities by the activists and students vitiated the atmosphere around the varsity, fearing any belligerent onslaughts the authorities decided to organize a rendezvous with their delegates, thus an official meeting was arranged.
The main highlights of the meeting were given a proper assurance to the students that their demands are going to be fulfilled on time. The Varsity tries to circumvent any kind of subversive behaviour which will impact the harmony among the students and the University.
Now the University will work upon their rules and timings required for the semester mode of examination in a way that is going to provide ease and proficiency for the students.
Our future lies in the hand of the youth, thus students should find their university extremely helpful and should act as a platform for achieving success in their life.
