ABVP and DUSU ‘s demonstration against DU Vice Chancellor because of difficulties in DU admission process and fee hike in colleges.

Yesterday, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) protested at arts faculty of Delhi University on issues like increase in college fees, in a row over the problems faced by the Delhi University aspiring students in its admission process. Irregularity in Sports Category Admission, inadequate arrangement in College for Parents at the time of Admission Process , introduction of EWS category in Mphil/PhD Admission and provision of admission by college by accepting undertaking etc.

In this context, it may be noted that the tedious DU admission process is posing hardship to the students and parents. The admission staff in colleges who were admitting students to the first cut-off of the DU were not aware of the rules, which caused problems in the smooth functioning of the admission process. Admissions of students were cancelled after admission to several colleges because of loopholes in admission process .

Siddharth Yadav, the State Secretary of ABVP Delhi said “It is very unfortunate that the administration took a long time in the name of preparations before the admission process started, but the level of preparations that were made is now coming up as a bad arrangement on the ground reality . There is urgent need to take necessary steps to ensure that the repetition of the problem is not faced in the upcoming admission cut-offs. If our demands are not met within 10 days, we will again be protesting strongly against the administration. “

DUSU President Shakti Singh said , “There has been an arbitrary unaccounted fee increase in many DU colleges, which is not acceptable to us . We demand rollback of fee hike and demand the university administration to curb such anti-student decisions in the university departments and colleges. “

After the protest ABVP delegation submitted a memorundum to Dean of Students welfare
