The Delhi University students witnessed a delay in the declaration of their semester results (November-December 2019) owing to the Delhi University Teachers Association (DUTA) strikes this time. Usually, the semester results are out in the first week of January and the process continues till the mid of the month. This is because the result of the various semesters and courses keep coming out on different days.
The result wasn’t actually fixed this time and it was said that it will be out on 31st January. The uncertainty of the results has led to restlessness among the DU students because the result might just come out suddenly any day now.
The invigilation and evaluation process had been earlier boycotted by DUTA as they demanded the absorption and promotion of the various ad-hoc teachers into permanent positions among other reasons. This lead to the extension of the winter-break for students as the new semester didn’t begin from January 1st as per the academic calendar of DU.
Teachers have seemingly given up with the strike because they wanted to carry on with the syllabus in colleges. They said they can’t let the education of students suffer because of the DUTA strikes. Hence the college began and teachers were also present for the evaluation processes. Whatsoever, the strikes will continue in future as the demands haven’t been fulfilled yet.
DU students should now keep an eye on the portal available on the official website du.ac.in as the results are certain to be announced soon. Some of the results have already been declared for courses like B.Tech Computer Science, B.Tech Electronics B.Tech Instrumentation (fourth year results specifically) and for various Honour courses (third year results specifically). Hence for the other courses too, the result is likely to be declared soon.
