Around 1000 students, along with some human rights groups, staged protest at the Delhi University Arts Faculty on 8th January against CAA and NRC, reading the Preamble to the Constitution of India and also singing the national anthem.
The rally taken out by the Delhi university students passed through various north campus colleges like Ramjas college and Miranda House, returning to the Arts Faculty where they held a public meeting a demonstration beside the Swami Vivekananda statue at the faculty. Various placards with slogans like “Boomer Janta Party” and “Modi-Shah Murdabad” along with slogans of “Islamophobia” and “CAA Murdabad” surrounded the campus area. Several teachers supported the protest and classes were boycotted in colleges like Ramjas and Miranda house. The students criticized BJP’s slogan of “Sabka saath, sabka vikaas” and stated it to be a veiled self-centered agenda.The protest was a peaceful yet a powerful one with heavy police presence at the entry gate of the faculty.
