The admissions for Delhi University in 2020 will start from the 1st week of April to allow students more time. There is an effort to release a single application form in order to make the admission procedure in Delhi University more ‘student friendly’. The last year, application form was delayed over a month due to which the previous session began on 31st May, while for 2018-2019 session it had started from the 15th of May. There were a total of 2,58,388 application forms received for 64,000 students during 2019 admissions at the varsity, out of which 9091 applications were reserved under the EWS quota while 7100 ST, 34262 SC and 55457 OBC applications were received by DU. The University is trying to make the admission procedure less “hassle free, more transparent, objective and convenient for both parents and students”. The last year, the National Testing Agency (NTA) conducted the entrance examinations for the varsity on the lines of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU).
The admissions for DU will begin after the release of Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) class 12th results. The CBSE has decided to prepone its exams and the evaluation process in order to allow more time for students to apply for DU admissions. The state boards will follow suit.
