On January 15, Shakti Singh was formally appointed as the DUSU president, promoting him from his present position as the vice president of DUSU.
The Delhi University varsity took the decision in compliance with the order of The Delhi High Court dated 18th December 2018.
The decision came in late, to which, even Shakti Singh raised his concern. However, Shakti claimed that he would make maximum utilisation of the available time.
The decision by the varsity also witnessed a backlash. The NSUI said that the BJP is capturing institutions and where it cannot, people are shunted out or even thrown out.
“The checks and balances of democracy cannot handle bullies. The only recourse is to throw these guys out,” they said.
The Left-backed All India Students’ Association also slammed the varsity’s decision and accused them of deliberately delaying the verification of Baisoya’s mark sheets so that the president’s post could go to Singh.
