On Saturday, Yogesh Tyagi, the Vice Chancellor of Delhi University in an EC meeting disclosed the plan of making the north campus of Delhi University a closed campus. The DU varsity is already in talks with government departments to carry out the same. The varsity plans to complete the work within an year.
The executive council claims that the step is being taken in order to conserve the culture of the north campus and also to ensure better security. According to the executive council, having a closed campus like JNU will help Delhi University have its own character.
In the EC meeting, a lot of members opposed the IoE tag being granted to DU, which also caused the delay in the winding up of the meeting.
