Delhi University has successfully passed Ordinance XII E for employment of teachers on contract basis with fixed salaries.
Academic Council member Saikat Ghosh said that,
“We already have the provision for temporary appointments for vacancies filled by ad hoc teachers for four months. Since these vacancies can be filled by teachers hired on ad hoc basis, the contractual appointment is not required in DU. It has forced DU to add to the already exploitative conditions prevailing for ad hoc teachers by introducing contractual employment in which there are no benefits, no allowances, no leaves, no increments and no job security, reported TOI.
The Academic council had been protesting and the decision was made after a day of chaos.
