Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad was demonstrating at the Vice Regal Lodge (VC Office) against the Vice-Chancellor and Academic Council of Delhi University. ABVP demanded the removal of objectionable portions from the course in the syllabus of some DU departments protesting against the inclusion of false facts relating to Hinduism and nationalist organisations. At the same time, the ABVP also demanded the inclusion of elected office bearers of Delhi University Students’ Union in the Academic Council.

Earlier, on 15th July, ABVP had raised its demand for the subject peacefully in a protest against the DU VC. But the administration falsely promised, according to ABVP which forced them to protest again against the DU VC.

ABVP Delhi’s State Secretary Sidharth Yadav said “It is very unfortunate that the people sitting in the academic council are playing politics of inclusion political agenda of the leftist ideology in the syllabus, The administration has not given any concrete response yet and we will continue our struggle till the demands are met. “

However, on 17th July, the protest was concluded as Delhi University conceded the withdrawal of the syllabus post the wrangle.

“Following the protest of ABVP yesterday, Delhi University administration has withdrawn the proposed syllabus of Political Science, English, History and Sociology courses for revision and decided to retain 5 students as members in the Academic Council.” Ashutosh Singh , State Media Incharge ABVP Delhi
