Apparently, more than 4,500 teachers are working on ad hoc basis for years in different colleges and departments of the university.
Including their regularisations, they have accused the DU administration of apathy and insensitivity over their concerns.
DU ad hoc faculty Manoj Kumar voiced,
“Despite several advertisements and Delhi High Court’s order to fill the posts and assurances from the HRD Minister, the posts continue to be vacant. Leaving ad hoc teachers with no option other than intensifying the demand for absorption.”
On their regularisation, the Delhi University Teachers’ Association (DUTA) has called for “university shutdown” on January 8 and 9 to further push for its demand of government withdrawing its circulars which seem to be an attack on university’s autonomy.
