A woman studying in Jawaharlal Nehru University was reported to be stalked by a 21-year-old man who was pursuing his education from Delhi University.
He was apprehended on the pretext of stalking the woman.
The man who was assigned to the guilt of stalking was allegedly trying to force her into a relationship.
Devender Arya who is the DCP of Southwest Police Department delineated that Vikas, who was the accused stalker was apprehended on Sunday evening.
Vikas was in his final year of graduation pursuing B-Com.
As described by the Investigating Officers, Vikas had met this woman earlier and also managed to get her phone number.
After doing so, they had a brief streak of communication within them.
The woman later outwardly said that Vikas later started hounding her for a relationship.
She later filed a Police Complaint at Vasant Kunj North Police Station on Friday.
In her statement to the police, she stated that the stalker had started following her and kept trying to talk to her.
She avowed to having ignored all these advances by the stalker.
However, the summoned managed to enter the premises of her University and successfully reached her hostel complex.
Vikas was arrested under IPC 354D after he allegedly confessed to stalking the woman when brought in for further questioning on Saturday.
CCTV footage from in and around the University along with Vikas’s mobile phone are being scanned for a clearer picture of the situation.
